Getting close to the big day!!
I guess I should take some time and thank various people for helping me out with this.
After searching around for a little while, I went with HostPapa for hosting the site. Even though their name and 'papa' reference seemed like a corny knock-off of GoDaddy, they ended up getting my money for hosting fees. Their prices were pretty good, and the best part is that they are 100% powered by green, renewable energy. That is a great idea, and definitely something that I am willing to support!
The online store was set up using CafePress. There were other alternatives here as well, but cafepress had the widest selection of products and their prices were generally the lowest. Once I got all of the images and graphics created, it was pretty easy to get everything up and running.
Thanks to the folks at HappyWorker for mentioning the site. They list a bunch of interesting facts about Leap Day. And bonus points to them for getting in a reference at the end of their writeup for the show Quantum Leap. I used to love that show.
Lastly, I guess I should apologize to the user named ILVSBI. You were the first ever to comment on the blog, and I promptly ignored you. I appreciate your enthusiasm and willingness to attend my party. Have you ever seen those 'Catch a Predator' Dateline shows? There are some real creeps out there on the internet. ILVSBI, I'm sure you're cool, and you are not like those sick guys out there looking to hook up with some random teen. I just don't feel that good about giving out my home address and a open invitation for anyone on the internet to just show up. I hope you understand!

Yeah! Leap Day is here! I was so excited I couldn't sleep so I am up pretty early checking the website for any signs of Ellen or Willard...
I haven't given up hope yet. and honey I think you should take the cell phone with you all day today just incase Ellen surprises you she is always up for a surprise. Get on you dancing shoes! -Leap day wife
I did not acutally take the day off of work but we have an inservice day today with no kids!! So it is like a day off! And all the teachers loved your website! We are purchasing t-shirts for leap day 2012. In honor of the special day we are wearing jeans and having a potluck lunch! We are serving three jumping bean salad, leaping lazana, and hopping hoho cake! Have a great one... -Teachers of America
I guess I should say what my big plans are for the day. I want to relax and wait for the temperature to get to a balmy 15 degrees(we are at zero now and I can only dream of 30!). And then I will take a nice cross country ski trip. I am also going to bundle in my parka and venture out to a Chainsaw Carving Festival. The smell of woodchips and chainsaw fumes are calling...
PS there is always hope for this to take off in 2012 but I am catching this band wagon early!
Funny being a Teacher of America and I can't spell leaping lasagna. :)
Oh and the happy worker magazing has a fun article about leap day. So check it out. They have interesting facts. Like if you are interested in getting married on the spur of the moment today travel to Hell, Michigan and you can tie the knot for free. Anyone up for it? -Single Teacher in America
